What is the difference between made-to-measure and bespoke tailoring?
If you are on this page, you might already have noticed that JSMP offers both made-to-measure service and bespoke tailoring service. So what is the difference between the two of them?
What does made-to-measure mean?
Made-to-measure is custom sized clothing that is cut and sewn from a base pattern, i.e, the design of the clothing is set, but it will be made according to your own measurements. Therefore, instead of being constrained to standard sizing (e.g. UK4- 18; US2- 16; X-small to X-Large…!), made-to-measure clothing will always be in your size and will fit your body shape.
With JSMP, you can either share your measurements by following our measurement guide online, or visit our showroom to get your measurements done by us in person.
What does bespoke tailoring mean?
Bespoke tailoring means clothing made to an individual buyer's specifications by a tailor. As such, you will be telling the tailor about your wants in a shirt, for example, a mandarin collar with textured fabrics. The design of the shirt will be uniquely yours, and during the process you will be speaking to the designer and the tailor to transform your concepts into reality.
At JSMP, we take this approach even further- we like incorporating unconventional elements into traditional designs. Hence, apart from telling us about what you want, you will also be getting design inputs from Jasmin Pang, the founder and designer of JSMP. We want to modernise the bespoke tailoring experience, so that shirts which are typically a traditional wardrobe item can be classy, stylish, and contemporary at the same time.
