Covid-19: Taking care of "Dry-clean only" fabrics during a pandemic

Have you been avoiding wearing dry clean only clothes for the last few months because of Covid-19? As we are slowly coming out from the lockdown, there are a few tips we would like to share with you so that you can glam yourself up with the nice clothes in your wardrobe without worrying about not being able to wash them immediately.

p.s. These are only our general guidance, it doesn’t mean the virus will be 100% eliminated as the virus is new and we are still learning more about it every day.

Taking care of "Dry-clean only" fabrics during coronavirus

  1. Viruses lose infectivity at high temperature- you can steam your clothes after coming home in order to disinfect them

  2. Hang your clothes under the sun- the sun also kills viruses and germs, so expose it!

  3. Avoid hanging your worn clothes together with other clean clothes for at least two days. According to HKU medical experts, the virus can stay on fabrics for two days.

  4. Spray the clothes with natural disinfectants- look for non-bleach and colour-safe options to protect your garments.

  5. Don’t shake your dirty clothes, it can spread the virus!

Obviously, not being able to wash your dirty clothes right after you get home is not ideal. But it’s been a few months since we abandon our beautiful delicate dry clean only clothes in the wardrobe for the easy-care options, so perhaps following the tips above will satisfy our desire to be vain even during a pandemic.
